Blantyre Sports Club (BSC), founded in 1896 and located in Blantyre, is a member-based social hub offering quality recreational, sporting and wellness facilities. The club provides a range of facilities for sports including golf, tennis, football, snooker, squash and swimming, along with amenities such as a swimming pool, gymnasium and executive restaurant, accessible to both members and the public. The club seeks to recruit dynamic, and results-driven individuals to the positions of Marketing and Events Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the General Manager, the Marketing and Events Coordinator will promote the BSC brand, grow membership, enhance visibility, and coordinate club events. This includes developing and executing marketing strategies to attract and retain members. Additionally, he or she will manage the BSC website to ensure it is current with relevant content for optimal traffic.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote BSC services, including managing social media platforms and creating marketing materials.
- Recruit new club members while maintaining strong relationships with existing ones.
- Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities for the club.
- Prepare regular performance analysis reports on marketing efforts.
- Plan and organize various events such as sports tournaments, social gatherings, corporate functions, promotional events, outreach programs, and community engagements.
- Develop budgets for each event to ensure financial viability.
- Liaise with vendors (catering and equipment rental) and oversee logistics like venue setup andaudio-visual needs to ensure smooth execution of events.
- Manage staff involved in organizing or executing the events by assigning roles and communicateeffectively with clients or stakeholders regarding requirements.
- Develop marketing policies in line with BSC goals and lead their implementation.
- Advise management and staff on marketing strategies and events management.
- Manage and update BSC website content (e.g., blogs, product/service pages).
- Ensure the BSC website content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with brandguidelines.
- Collaborate with designers and developers to improve BSC website functionality and user experience.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a Diploma in Marketing.
- Three years proven experience in marketing, preferably in hospitality industry.
- Hands on experience managing corporate events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet targets and work under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of digital marketing.
- Strong computer skills, in Adobe, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Presentations.
- Experience updating websites or managing digital content.
