LOCATION – BLANTYRE
Blantyre Sports Club (BSC), founded in 1896 and located in Blantyre, is a member-based social hub offering quality recreational, sporting and wellness facilities. The club provides a range of facilities for sports including golf, tennis, football, snooker, squash and swimming, along with amenities such as a swimming pool, gymnasium and executive restaurant, accessible to both members and the public. The club seeks to recruit dynamic, and results-driven individuals to the positions of Housekeeping Supervisor.
POSITION SUMMARY
To manage hygiene for the club that includes ensuring cleanliness for BSC premises and designated areas. This will also include supervising the cleaning staff and controlling equipment and inventory related to hygiene and cleaning services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise housekeeping staff to ensure they follow health and safety regulations and do high-quality work.
- Inspect BSC rooms, public areas, and facilities to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
- Keep club premises clean by supervising general cleaning duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting surfaces (floors, walls, and tables), scrubbing and polishing floors using powered equipment, and cleaning restroom areas, including restocking supplies.
- Supervise the washing and ironing of tablecloths and other linens; make sure employees are using proper tools.
- Always keep an eye on how tidy the housekeeping staff looks.
- Create work schedules; oversee overtime and leave; and assign responsibilities to housekeeping staff.
- Precisely maintain records of all tools and equipment under the housekeeping department.
- Take part in the hiring process for housekeeping personnel.
- Provide management with general cleaning advice.
- Ensure that cleaning equipment and materials are used efficiently.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent obtained in a single sitting.
- Minimum of a Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field from highly accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years experience at similar level.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Computer literate in MS Packages including Word and Excel.
