In what was anticipated to be one of the most challenging and closely watched AGMs at Blantyre Sports Club, Sophie Mlumbe, a seasoned banker and former director, emerged victorious and unopposed, stepping into the esteemed role of Board Chairperson

The Annual General Meeting held on 31st October 2024 marked the end of Arthur Matekenya’s tenure as Board Chairperson. While his leadership faced its share of challenges, most members acknowledged that he navigated his term commendably. 

The highlight of the meeting was the election of a vibrant and dynamic Board of Directors poised to lead Blantyre Sports Club into an exciting new chapter for the 2024-2025 term.

This new board brings a perfect blend of experience and fresh perspectives, featuring 12 members, with 6 returning leaders and 6 newly elected individuals ready to steer Blantyre Sports Club into a promising future.

We also take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to the immediate past Chairman, Arthur Matekenya, and the outgoing board members, John Gift Mwakwawa, Soustain Chigalu, Chikhulupiliro Mphatso, and MacFord Mtambalika, for their unwavering commitment and impactful contributions to the growth of our club, said Mlumbe.

In her acceptance speech, the new Board Chair committed to do more for the club from membership services to improving infrastructure and requested all members to give the new board the needed support.
